We have been looking for a decent DAB radio for our kitchen when my partner stumbled across Panasonic stereo, model number: SC-HC3DB.
As our units are dark and we have stainless steel appliances I was more than happy that the stereo was black with a glass sliding door because it didn’t look out of place in the kitchen.

Not something that obviously springs to mind when looking for a stereo but it was an important thing for us.

We managed to buy ours at Costco for £155 which is at least £40 cheaper than can be found at some of the big retailers.

Panasonic SC-HC3 Style

I was quite impressed when I got home and seen how stylish the systems is. It actually fits perfectly in a corner of our kitchen; the system itself sits up right on a base. Surprisingly it doesn’t take up too much of the unit with it standing so for instance I can still get a full size plate on the counter in front of it.

In the centre of the main unit is a sliding door and either side of this is a built in speaker.
The left hand side of the door is black transparent glass and this covers the docking station and the right hand side of the sliding door is a lovely satin finish, this covers the cd part of the stereo.

The sliding door is actually very flush so it doesn’t make the unit look bulky or clumsy.
When the door is open you get a closer look at the display unit which is black which has white/blue writing/lettering when in use.

The controls can be found on the top of the unit and they are also nice and flush but if you’re lazy like me you can just use the remote control instead.

The instructions at first seemed a little daunting because all 23 pages of the booklet is cluttered with diagrams and a large amount of text. But actually the instructions were very detailed but to be honest we only briefly needed to refer to the instructions because the set up was pretty straight forward.

Accessories supplied included a remote control, DAB ‘T’ antenna, FM indoor antenna, 2 AA batteries, AC mains lead and antenna plug adaptor.
I wondered why we needed so much but it all became clear and we worked out where everything went in a couple of minutes!

The remote seemed quite big, but we have actually got a logi tech remote so we programmed it in a dumped the new remote with the others, safely tucked away in a drawer.
We choose to set everything up from the main base unit but you can also set things up using the remote.

Panasonic SC-HC3 Usage

Im not the best person when it comes to technology so I’d rather have something that’s quite simple to use. As the system is in kitchen I have managed to get quite a lot of use out of it.

We preset our radio stations very easily using the instructions and its set to our favourite channels, so all I normally need to do is switch it on and adjust the volume if necessary.
The remote control does have too many buttons for my liking but as mentioned we programmed our dual remote control using the setting that were relevant to us.

The instructions suggest that the remote control sensor has a range of about 7m directly in front of the unit. But to be honest I have waved the remote from all over our kitchen when I have got a bit carried away and I have never had a problem.
I actually don’t get much usage out of the cd player but I do use my iphone quite a lot as ipods are compatible an extensive list is included in the instructions.

I really like the fact my iphone is easy to fit into the unit and I have never had any problem using it. A small button inside the station can be used to bring the dock connector out at an angle and the ipod sits nicely on top of it.
The best part is that the ipod is tucked safely away and I can use the remote or controls on the main base to control the ipod. It really does look much better than some of the plain docking stations i have seen for the ipods.

Thankfully I am able to see my iphone through the transparent sliding door so when it easy to use the control because I can see the menus on my iphone very easily.
The sound quality is brilliant and it is much better than expected, I would actually go so far to say that the stereo is better fitted to a living room/dining room because it would be put to better use and the quality could be appreciated a bit more.

Overall I’m really happy with our purchase and I would recommend it to you, it does seem a tad expensive if you think its just in our kitchen, however the unit would look stylish and sleek anywhere. It is just that we bought it for the kitchen however we may replace it and move it into another room so that we get the best use out of the amazing sound quality.
A system that does everything we want, look goods, is easy to use, multifunctional and it sounds great.

How to play:

Everything started when came to my house a pair of Klipsch La Scala, two huge wooden blocks, which I had purchased with the intent to resell soon, but it was a shock!

My idea that these trumpets were firing too high frequency average was absolutely wrong, or rather in a way I found open diffusers but also consistent and drugs, you hear exactly what is played on stage ..

Made this experience I have considered the smallest models, in this case the RB 61, good efficiency, I would say excellent, very good construction and aesthetics rather competitive prices.

With this, I contacted the representative and I took some models.

Again I noticed a sound quite similar to what you might hear before a stage. Timbre clear, preference for the dynamics and rock, they are suitable for lovers that turn up the volume.

They really pilot a breath of the power with all 95 dB, so the valve can be recommended. The most ‘grown-ups are also suitable for large environments, the 52 for medium spaces.
